Dear Class of 2025 Graduates of the School of Dentistry,
Congratulations on your Commencement day.
Today is a day of celebration. Your School of Dentistry family is incredibly proud of you and share in your excitement. Thank you for choosing West Virginia University and the WVU School of Dentistry for your studies.
As healthcare professionals, our commitment to excellence and the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care must always be at the center of our professional practice. You are entering an incredibly exciting profession that is focused on service to those entrusted to our care.
Recognizing that the practice of dentistry is rapidly evolving, maintaining a strong focus on patient-centered care is a core value of our chosen profession. It is important to remember that lifelong learning and continuing professional education have never been more important to remaining current in our professional practice.
Find your purpose and be ever-cognizant of your work-life harmony. As your purpose evolves and matures, you will continue to grow personally and professionally. Balance and harmony are important parts of purpose. Personal and professional well-being is central to balance. Always remember to cultivate your friendships and build your professional relationships. When you mentor the next generation, you, and your leadership, will make a difference.
Your accomplishment is the result of many years of hard work and marks a turning point in your life. You, and your family, have worked hard to get to today. Sharing your accomplishments and your appreciation with your family, friends, and loved ones for their unwavering support is an important part of today’s celebration.
Remember that life is about the journey – not about a destination; similarly, graduation is just the beginning and not an endpoint. Thank you again and for choosing West Virginia University, and I hope that you will always consider our School of Dentistry as your home. Let’s go Mountaineers!
