Dear School of Nursing Graduates,
Throughout the course of your nursing education, you have obtained the knowledge, skills and experience needed to excel in the field of nursing. I have no doubt you will go on to become excellent providers of care.
I hope each of you will take time to reflect on Maya Angelou’s wise words. Your patients and their families will never forget the way you make them feel. Nursing is undoubtedly a challenging profession, but a little kindness goes a long way, not only to your patients but to yourselves.
Nursing is not just a career — it is a calling. I am so glad each of you have answered the call, as I know you will become nursing leaders in your respective disciplines. I cannot wait to see the impact you will make throughout West Virginia and beyond.
