Dear School of Public Health Graduates,
Today, we join with family, friends, mentors, and classmates to celebrate not only what you have achieved but who you have become. We honor the hard work, sacrifice, and spirit that brought you to this milestone.
This moment is both a culmination and a commencement. It reflects the years of study, exploration, and dedication that have brought you to this milestone, while also marking the beginning of a new chapter. As you leave this campus, you step into a future that is ready for your ideas, your leadership, and the contributions only you can make.
You studied in a world that challenged you — a world that revealed how fragile health can be, how deep inequities run, and how much work remains to be done. Yet even as the world felt uncertain and overwhelming at times, you stood firm.
You chose compassion over cynicism. You chose service over silence. You chose to believe that meaningful change is possible, and that you have a role in leading it.
As you begin this next journey, I encourage you to face adversity with bold confidence, knowing that you have the knowledge, skills, and perseverance to navigate whatever comes next. Rely on your Mountaineer roots to lead with your heart, your passion, and your ambition.
On behalf of the West Virginia University School of Public Health community, congratulations. And wherever your path may lead, remember that WVU will always be a place you can call home.
Let’s Go!
