College of Applied Human Sciences

Order of Exercises

Dear Graduates of the College of Applied Human Sciences,

On behalf of the faculty and staff of the College, I want to congratulate you on arriving at this day and earning your degree. This is an important moment, and it is one that you should celebrate.

During your time here at WVU and in our college, you’ve developed the knowledge and practical skills that define an applied education. You’ve spent numerous hours perfecting your craft, and your willingness to be an active participant in your education is what will set you apart from your peers. Additionally, your ability to be a good colleague and friend is what makes being a Mountaineer special.

What makes the higher education experience valuable is the opportunity it gives you to take on challenges and achieve. You had to solve problems both in the classroom and outside of it, many of you for the first time. This is the time when you were challenged, and arriving to this moment today is proof that you have what it takes to succeed.

I want to reassure you that you are ready for what’s next. Whether it’s starting your career, continuing your education, or pursuing an alternative path you may not have imagined yet, you can do it.

I want to thank you for choosing to be a Mountaineer. We take pride in being a close-knit community, and this will always be a place where the country roads can take you home.

Congratulations!

Nathan Sorber
Interim Dean, WVU College of Applied Human Sciences
