We are excited to welcome you to the Coliseum and the Canady Creative Arts Center for May Commencement ceremonies scheduled for May 12-14, 2023. Here's what you need to do in advance to prepare for the day.

Register to Participate


May Graduates

You must first apply to graduate through the Office of the University Registrar. Then register for the ceremony when link becomes available. The registration links will go live after the application to graduate closes in early March.


Faculty, Administrators and Governing Board Members

WVU faculty members planning to attend Commencement should contact their respective colleges. Administrators and governing board members planning to attend Commencement should RSVP by emailing the Office of University Events at graduation@mail.wvu.edu.

Order Academic Regalia

Graduates

All graduates participating in Commencement are required to wear caps and gowns. See the Academic Regalia page for ordering information, as well as information about honor cords, stoles, medallions, etc.

Faculty, Administrators and Governing Board Members

WVU faculty members, administrators and governing board members participating in graduation are required to wear academic regalia, either from their alma mater or WVU. Herff Jones offers custom WVU faculty regalia. Basic faculty regalia is available at the WVU Bookstore.

Make Lodging Arrangements

There are many off-campus lodging options available for May Commencement weekend.

Confirm Your Permanent Address

In early May, commemorative programs will be mailed to each graduate's permanent address on file. Please ensure that your address information is accurate. This is also the address where your diploma will be mailed when grades have been certified. You may update your permanent address in STAR under the Personal Information section.
