Regalia
Faculty
Faculty participating in graduation should wear academic regalia, either from their alma mater or West Virginia University.
Faculty are also encouraged to wear a tam or cap with their academic regalia. Suit jackets are not recommended for wear underneath gowns.
Herff Jones offers custom WVU faculty regalia. This upgraded option has been designed to accommodate increased participation of faculty in graduation. Basic faculty regalia is still available at the WVU Bookstore.

University Administration & Governing Boards
University administrators and governing board members participating in graduation should wear academic regalia, either from their alma mater or West Virginia University.
University administrators who serve as presiding officers (conferring degrees) must wear WVU regalia at ceremonies where they preside.
Participants are encouraged to wear a tam or cap when donning academic regalia. Suit jackets are not recommended for wear underneath gowns.
WVU’s Office of University Events has a limited supply of trustee regalia, which is available for borrowing by invitation only. Details regarding trustee regalia will be communicated at the beginning of each graduation season.
