The kick-off event of Commencement weekend will recognize West Virginia University graduates who have excelled in academics, service, and leadership.
The following groups will be recognized during the ceremony:
- University Honors Scholars
- Foundation Outstanding Seniors
- Order of Augusta
- WVU graduates receiving national awards
Information for Participants
Participation is by invitation only. Invitations will be sent to either your MIX or the email address provided on award applications.
You may bring as many guests as you like. Tickets are not issued for this event.
Please wear your academic robe and cap for this ceremony.
Please plan to arrive at 4:45 p.m. for check-in and line-up in the Gladys G. Davis Theatre.
A celebratory reception will follow the ceremony in the Creative Arts Center’s Douglas O. Blaney Lobby.
During this special ceremony, members of the Honors College at West Virginia University will receive their honors cords.
Students receiving national awards will be publicly recognized by the University.
Foundation Outstanding Seniors and Order of Augusta graduates will be given their certificates and pins, and will be asked to sign the book of record. Order of Augusta graduates will also receive their medallions.
Students earning Latin Honors will receive honor cords from their schools or colleges. Latin Honors are noted in the Commencement program, but are not part of the Honors Convocation ceremony.
