Guests
Program Length
Each ceremony will last approximately 2 hours. The Eberly College of Arts and Sciences ceremony will last approximately 2 1/2 hours, as it is the largest college within the University.
Seating
West Virginia University asks that all guests remain in their designated seats during commencement. Guests are not permitted to approach the stage to take photos, present gifts, or congratulate their graduates.
Receptions
Receptions will last approximately 1 hour. You may bring as many guests as you like, but be sure to adhere to any RSVP requirements outlined by the school or college.
Attire
Blouses, collared shirts, sweaters, slacks, khakis, skirts, and dresses are appropriate commencement attire.
Temperature controls in the venues vary. The Creative Arts Center and the Morgantown Event Center have central air. The Coliseum does not, however, it does have a system of fans. Dressing in light, breathable fabrics in thin layers is advised so that you may find your own comfort level, regardless of venue.
Assistance
Gold and Blue Student Ambassadors will be on-site to assist with parking and directing guests at the various venues. If you have questions, be sure to stop and ask!

Flowers
Flowers will be available for purchase (cash only) at the three commencement venues. A variety of options will be available and come in custom blue and gold packaging. Proceeds benefit WVU’s Horticulture and Plant and Soil Sciences clubs.
